- In 1981 first musique-concrète-experiments with magnetophones and shortwave-radio signals have been recorded on various cassettes, followed by intense activities in the European tape-scene between 1985 and 1993. Together with Stefano Barban (Italy) and Miguel A. Ruiz (Spain) Siegmar Fricke founded the industrial projects AMBULATORIO SEGRETO and EFFICIENT REFINERIES. Further collaborations with the Italian sound-artists Maurizio Bianchi and Giancarlo Toniutti were realized. Since 2001 Siegmar Fricke characterizes his musical universe as "Pharmakustik": audioclinical investigation; sound-research; implantation and re-implanation of acoustic fragments; exclusion of harmonies/melodies/traditional song-structures; generation of completely electronic and highly abstract tissues; intermodulating soundpools related to medical subjects; neurochemical ambiences; formantmodulation of selected voice-particles, bitcrushed fractures of rhythm; complex combinations of plugins/modulators/effect-periphery. MODULAR PROSTHETICS catapults PHARMAKUSTIK's audiosurgical interventions into a new, yet unheard era of prosthetic sound-synthesis developed by a complex plugin-apparatus within the last months at Pharmakustik-studio. Resection, replacement and restoration of audio-fragments, simultaneous interaction of dissected voice-particles and powerful convulsive electronics form the main basis of the seven tracks on which all abscesses of harmonies, repetitive rhythmic forms and conventional structures have been completely removed. Instead periprosthetic fracture-mechanics, modular sound-expansions, processed electrical signals and endosonic research are the main structural components of the album. GRAIN NUCLEATION by PHARMAKUSTIK contains six movements in electronic audio-sputtering: ejection of acoustic atoms by granular bombardment.
